2012 Volunteers Needed!
MLK Summer Scholars partners with local community-based not-for-profits to offer summer employment, job readiness, and life skills training opportunities to Boston area youth. On top of the work experience, the Scholars attend a series of weekly life-skills workshops, which incorporate the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King.
Volunteer table facilitators are needed to lead 8–10 students through interactive exercises based on a curriculum guide tailored to each session. Adult facilitators are critical to the success of these sessions, and often play a large role in the ultimate success of the program in helping scholars improve their lives.
Weekly workshop sessions will be held from 8:30–11:30AM from July 13th through August 17th at the John Hancock Student Village in Boston University.Volunteers are asked to attempt to commit to at least 3 sessions.
