From Gillette Stadium to the National Mall, meaningful gestures honoring our country’s veterans have headlined the news over the past week. A little closer to home, John Hancock is excited to announce the launch of the new Military Employee Community (MiLE), an employee community for current service members, veterans, and their families. The MiLE Community aims to build a strong network amongst the company’s veterans and military families to offer guidance, support, and mentorship.
The employee resource group is open to all those who served or are serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Reserves, National Guard, or provide critical support to a family member or friend. The community will be a platform for sharing similar experiences and subsequently providing insights into career transitions, deployments, community outreach, career mentorship, and a multitude of other related issues. But it’s not all about networking! The community hopes to increase awareness within the company of the unique experience veterans have and how that translates into a fresh perspective on leadership style, discipline, and teamwork.
The MiLE community was born of a few veterans coming together to share their stories. Having found comfort this support system, the original members are looking forward to growing the network and providing a touchpoint for new and existing employees in all parts of the organization.
In celebration of the launch all veterans enjoyed a free lunch on Veterans Day across all corporate locations. In addition, the iconic John Hancock weather beacon above our Back Bay offices will shine green from Nov 9th through the 16th in a show of solidarity with our veterans across the country.
