Brooks Tingle
President & CEO, John Hancock
Brooks Tingle is President and Chief Executive Officer of John Hancock, the U.S. segment of Toronto-based Manulife Financial Corporation. He also is a member of Manulife’s Executive Leadership Team.
Mr. Tingle, who is based in Boston, leads John Hancock — one of the largest life insurers in the United States, supporting more than ten million Americans with a broad range of financial products, including life insurance and annuities. John Hancock also supports US investors through a separate Global Wealth and Asset Management business, bringing leading investment capabilities and retirement planning and administration expertise to individuals and institutions.
Before taking on his current role in 2023, Mr. Tingle served as President and CEO of John Hancock Insurance. Notably, he led John Hancock to embrace and implement the company's now market-leading behavioral insurance solution — John Hancock Vitality — which offers life insurance customers significant savings and rewards for taking everyday steps towards a longer, healthier, better life. Previously, Mr. Tingle held various leadership roles across Marketing, Strategy, and Operations for John Hancock Insurance, building strong advanced analytics capabilities and overseeing new business, underwriting, claims, information technology, policy administration, customer service, and reinsurance administration.
Mr. Tingle serves as President and Chairman of the boards for John Hancock’s insurance companies, including John Hancock Life Insurance Company (U.S.A.) and John Hancock Life Insurance Company of New York. Additionally, he is a member of the boards of the American Council of Life Insurers and LL Global, and serves on the Tufts Nutrition Council for the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy.
He received an MBA from Boston University and a B.A. in Economics from the University of New Hampshire.
Elizabeth Fisher
Head of CEO and Colleague Communications
Elizabeth Fisher is the Head of CEO and Colleague Communications at John Hancock and a member of the US Leadership Team. As well as supporting the CEO with his communications needs, Elizabeth oversees internal communications, colleague events, and organizational announcements, and provides strategic communications counsel to our leaders. Previously, she served as the Editorial Director and Head of Vitality Marketing for John Hancock Insurance.
Before joining John Hancock in 2019, Elizabeth led Marketing and Communications for Shriners Hospitals for Children – Boston. She previously worked at local and national broadcast outlets, including WCVB in Boston and CNN in Atlanta.
Elizabeth lives in Boston with her husband and two young sons. She earned a BA in Political Science and French from the College of the Holy Cross and MS in Journalism from Quinnipiac University.
Lindsay Hanson
Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Health & Wellness Solutions
Lindsay Hanson is the Chief Marketing Officer of John Hancock and Global Head of Behavioral Insurance of Manulife. A member of the US and Insurance Leadership teams, Lindsay is responsible for driving the successful execution of John Hancock’s marketing strategy and Manulife’s global Behavioral Insurance strategy, including growing sales, optimizing program economics to strengthen profitability, and improving customer experience and engagement.
Lindsay builds strategic business partnerships to transform the buying experience and expand on the company’s new approach to life insurance, which helps customers protect their financial future while rewarding them for taking steps to live a longer, healthier life. She leads a team that executes partnerships, collaborations and the development of new initiatives to achieve growth targets and continue building out a world-class customer experience for Manulife and John Hancock Insurance customers in North America. She has strong and active working relationships across the company and the industry to bring this vision to life. Her passion is wellness, and she is always exploring ways to incorporate this into Manulife’s global customer engagement strategy.
Lindsay lives with her son, Jack, on the south shore of Massachusetts. Her interests include spending time with her family, running, and skiing in the White Mountains. Lindsay is a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a BA in Business Finance and Entrepreneurship.
John Hatch
Chief Operations Officer
John R. Hatch is the Chief Operations Officer for John Hancock, the US segment of Toronto-based Manulife. Mr. Hatch oversees all US segment Operations for the Life, Long-Term Care, and Annuity business lines. With more than 20 years at Manulife, he has led transformational programs to create efficiencies and enhance the customer experience, including establishing the shared services model and building out global partnerships.
Prior to joining John Hancock, Mr. Hatch held executive roles at Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company, Price Waterhouse, Liberty Securities Corporation, and Colonial Investors Service Center.
Mr. Hatch holds his Series 6 and 26 FINRA licenses, a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, a MS in Information Technology, and a Doctorate of Science in Computer Science.
Gillian Kelley
Head of HR
Gillian Kelley is the Head of Human Resources for John Hancock, the US Segment of the Toronto-based Manulife. As a member of the US Leadership Team and the Global HR & Communications Team, Gillian is responsible for leading John Hancock’s strategic HR and Talent initiatives and partnering with the executive leadership team on the overall people agenda.
Prior to working with John Hancock/Manulife, Gillian worked at MassMutual as a Senior HR Business Partner aligned with the Brand, Product, & Affiliated Distribution and Operations organizations. Previously, she held various Human Resources leadership roles throughout her eighteen years with The Hartford, including in Compensation, Employee Relations, Recruiting, and as a Lead HR Business Partner.
Gillian lives north of Boston with her family. She graduated from Providence College and is a member of the Boston HR Council.
Hector Martinez
Head of John Hancock Insurance
Hector Martinez is the Head of John Hancock Insurance, responsible for all aspects of life insurance sales and distribution, underwriting, product development, and market solutions. With over two decades of sales and channel distribution experience in the insurance and financial technology industries, Mr. Martinez brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong track record of driving efficiencies and advancements in sales processes. His career is marked by several successful business restructuring and distribution initiatives that have expanded call center capabilities and redesigned custom business development platforms to drive greater client service. He shares John Hancock’s commitment to its distribution model and deepening existing relationships while fostering new, lasting partnerships.
Prior to John Hancock, Mr. Martinez was Head of Life Insurance at Equitable, then Chief Sales Officer and Head of Truist Life at Crump Life Insurance Services. Earlier in his career, he held several senior leadership roles at ADP.
Mr. Martinez received a Bachelor of Science degree in business and economics from Lehigh University.
Ted Bruntrager
Chief Risk Officer
Ted Bruntrager is Chief Risk Officer for John Hancock, the U.S. segment of Toronto-based Manulife.
Based in Boston, Mr. Bruntrager, who took on the position in 2017, is responsible for general risk management and oversight of the U.S. division. He also is Global Head of Operational Risk Management at Manulife.
He has held several risk management positions within the organization since 2011, first within John Hancock Investments where he was responsible for the development and implementation of its risk management program, and later as Head of Enterprise and Operational Risk Management within Hancock.
Previously, Mr. Bruntrager who joined the company in 2003, was head of the Corporate Products Group within U.S. Insurance, where he was responsible for general management of the corporate owned and bank owned life insurance segments of the U.S. insurance business. He also served in a variety of management roles within John Hancock.
He has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry and was a management consultant at the Monitor Group (now part of Deloitte Consulting) before joining John Hancock.
He graduated from Princeton University, with an A.B. in Chemistry and holds the Financial Risk Manager designation from the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
Susan P. Roberts
Head of LTC Customer Care Transformation
Susan P. Roberts is the Head of LTC Customer Care Transformation for John Hancock, the U.S. division of Toronto-based Manulife. She is responsible for the development and execution of John Hancock’s long-term care (LTC) customer care strategy, which is redefining the role of life insurance by adding a focus on enabling customers to live longer, healthier, better lives. Susan is an instrumental figure in this evolution of the industry and a driving force in ensuring that LTC insurance provides customers with the financial protection they require while also fostering their overall well-being and longevity.
Susan’s leadership style is characterized by flexibility, speed and data-driven decision-making and she instills these qualities in her cross-functional teams and organizational culture. Susan is a member of both the U.S. Leadership Team and Manulife’s Global Leadership Team.
Susan has built her career helping well-established firms transform to the next level of success. Prior to joining John Hancock, Ms. Roberts was Senior Vice President at MFS Investment Management, responsible for strategic planning and execution for businesses across the organization, and alignment with enterprise goals. Before that she held senior roles at Wellington Management. Throughout her career, she has established a track record of leading organizations through transformation, connecting strategy to action, envisioning, and executing against goals, and empowering and motivating teams.
Ms. Roberts is a co-founder of the Boston chapter of 100 Women Who Care, a fundraising organization benefiting local charities. She holds an MBA from Suffolk University and is a graduate of Syracuse University.
Kartik Sakthivel
Chief Information Officer
Kartik Sakthivel, Ph.D., is the Chief Information Officer at John Hancock. A member of the Global Technology and US leadership teams, Kartik is responsible for technology strategy and architecture, as well as supporting product design and delivery, operational excellence, and optimizing transformation and value creation.
Prior to joining John Hancock, Kartik served as the Vice President and global Chief Information Officer for LIMRA LOMA and LL Global, a non-profit worldwide trade association for the financial services industry. He has held leadership roles in companies of all sizes, ranging from small and midsize firms to Fortune 100 organizations across multiple industries. Kartik has authored several books on AI and business leadership and speaks frequently on these topics.
Kartik holds a Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science (with a focus on information quality and a dissertation on best practices for AI) and a graduate certificate in Information Quality from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He also received a Master’s Degree in Computer Information Systems/IT and an M.B.A. from Southern New Hampshire University.
Thomas E. Samoluk
General Counsel and Head of Government Relations
Thomas E. Samoluk is the General Counsel and Head of Government Relations at John Hancock, the U.S. segment of Toronto-based Manulife. He is also a member of the U.S. Leadership Team.
Mr. Samoluk joined John Hancock in 1999 and was a Senior Counsel in the Office of Business Conduct until 2003, when he took over government relations and later additional responsibilities.
As Head of Government Relations, Mr. Samoluk supervises John Hancock’s federal and state government relations. He is the primary liaison with Members of Congress and Congressional staff on federal legislation. Mr. Samoluk manages John Hancock's Washington-based consultants and coordinates relations with the company's industry trade associations.
In April 2023, Mr. Samoluk became General Counsel of John Hancock. He oversees Litigation, Insurance Law and Corporate Governance.
Mr. Samoluk is a former Massachusetts Assistant Attorney General and a former Assistant District Attorney in Middlesex County, Massachusetts.
In the mid 1990’s, he served as the Deputy Director of the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Review Board, an independent federal agency that was responsible for the review and public release of classified records on the assassination, which are now housed at the National Archives.
Mr. Samoluk serves on the Board of Directors of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation and chairs the Development Committee. He also serves on the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley’s Board of Directors.
He is involved in several business organizations and industry trade associations on behalf of John Hancock, including: Chair of the Executive Committee of the Life Insurance Association of Massachusetts; Member of the Board of Directors of the New England Council; for the American Council of Life Insurers he is a Member (and past Chairman) of the Federal Legislative Strategy Group, Chair of the International Federal Legislative Strategy Group, and a Member of the Executive Committee’s Deputies Group.
Mr. Samoluk received his BA in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He earned his law degree from Suffolk University Law School.
Alex Silva
CFO, John Hancock
Alex Silva is Chief Financial Officer for John Hancock, the US Segment of Toronto-based Manulife. A member of the US Leadership Team and Global Finance Leadership Team, Alex is responsible for the financial wellbeing and performance of John Hancock including the management and explanation of financial results as well as the financial assessment of key business strategies for the Life, Long-Term Care, and Annuity business lines.
With over 15 years of experience at John Hancock, Alex has held numerous positions at the Company. Prior to his current role, Alex was CFO for the Insurance business. Alex also previously held the position of Insurance Pricing Officer and has many years of experience pricing life insurance, annuities, and long-term care insurance.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Arts in Actuarial Science from Bryant University and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. Alex lives in Massachusetts with his wife, Amanda, and their five young sons. He enjoys spending time with his family, including playing backyard games with his boys such as wiffle ball and hockey. Alex is also passionate about the science of longevity and studying the latest research in nutrition and exercise.
Tony Teta
Head of Inforce Management
Tony Teta is the Head of Inforce Management, where he is responsible for managing all aspects of John Hancock’s closed Long Term Care and Annuities lines of business, as well as certain closed lines of the Life Insurance business.
Prior to taking on the role of Head of Inforce Management in March 2018, Tony was Chief Financial Officer, John Hancock Insurance. Tony has previously held senior roles in the Finance, Product, Operations and IT areas within the U.S. Division Wealth and Annuity businesses. Before joining Manulife in 1995, he worked at New England Life.
He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. Mr. Teta graduated from Harvard College with an AB in Applied Mathematics with Concentration in Economics.
